Don't Let Me GoA Poem by LinzeyTwo part poem for an English class. This poem depicts Leper from A Separate Peace.
What do they think is wrong with me?
They keep looking, searching for an answer What did I do to them? I heard he went insane while he was there
Saying things that didn't make sense They had to send him home for it They can't look me in the eye anymore I know I'm the same as them Maybe the service changed me... Or maybe Devon just changed them What did they do to make him this way I always want to ask, but it seems too rude Maybe the service changed him... Or maybe I've just changed myself At least Gene understands me He knows how we all can struggle Just like jumping off that branch We all get scared at times Gene's still been talking to him They seem to both understand Maybe it's from their secret meetings Or maybe their both just crazy Should I just stay away from now on? They don't seem to want me to stay Do you think he should be allowed back? I don't think so; he should just leave Just let me be in my own solitude No one wants me here anymore Let me walk in peace to the one place I belong We should be with him though You know you still want to be his friend He belongs with us like he always has; just don't let him go Goodbye Hello? © 2011 LinzeyReviews
