Catch Me

Catch Me

A Poem by Linzey

Looking over the edge I can feel it
The rush in adrenaline
When you know what you're about to do is the stupidest thing
But you don't care
Around me is pure beauty
Filled with greens and browns and blues
Taunting me to move forward
To embrace the waves crashing below

Yet fear flows freely too
What if the colors don't catch me
What if I am left to fall

Show me you will catch me
Take away my fear
Take away the possibility of pain
Let it slowly fade away

I can feel the wind pushing me
Pushing me slowly off of my feet
There's no turning back
I jump and then I fall

I tumble like a child
Down stairs as I begin to walk
I straighten and hold myself
Like the cocky person I once was
I fall gracefully and silent
As the adult I have become

Show me you will catch me
Take away my fear
Take away the possibility of pain
Let it slowly fade away

The sea envelopes me
It tells me all will be okay
Someone will always catch you
And push your fears away

The pain is hard face
It can never be completely taken away
Remember the lessons it has taught
Or the pain will grow without haste

I push through the sea's safety
Returning to the world so cold
Yet, the fears do not return
The pain is low and throbbing
So now I'll slowly slip away
I'll learn to catch myself
But if you'd like you can too
