Chapter 1A Chapter by HopeI stand here looking upon the stars, never have I before seen a star so close, nor have I been blinded by it's beauty. I heard pawsteps behind me, only then I realized it was Hawk, my leader, "It's a beautiful night, isn't it?", his voice was soft, his head was held high as his fur bristled through the wind, his eyes reflecting the moon, "It is. I've never seen anything like it before.", Hawk stood in silence, only could I see worry in his look, he told me everything no one else knew before, he told me of the time when he was a young pup his father rescued him in a forest fire, only his father couldn't make it out alive, as so did some of the pack members, Hawk stood there in fear knowing he couldn't do anything about it, all the wolves huddled up together in fear. The forest has re-grown and so has the pack, "Jiro, there's something I ought to tell you now that you are a fully grown wolf.", "What is that?", my shoulders began to stiffen, "Do you know how you've come to the wolf pack?" "What do you mean by 'Come''? I was born here-wasn't I?", my mind began to stir in curiosity, "Jiro, me and the rest of the pack have been worrying about you, of how you'd turn out to be, we weren't sure enough if you'd be eligible to handle the wild, but I believed in you, and surely enough I was right, you turned out to be a strong and loyal wolf, only now you must know the truth. Jiro, you weren't born here, you’ve came from a house of humans, you're mother-Elaine-brought you here." My eyes widened, I was speechless, only thoughts ran through my mind, "Elaine-your mother-is a friend of mine, she's been watching over you, she's been telling me of how proud she is of you, of how much you've grown." "Why did she bring me here?" "Jiro, your mother was blind, she couldn't take care of you, the only thing she could do was have me bring you here into the forest." "...I'm not a wolf?", my eyes began to tear up, as my paws began to grip onto the earth, "Is that why everyone has been treating me differently? Is that why I look so different from the others? If I'm not a wolf, then what am I?", I stood up beginning to pace back and fourth as fury showed in my eyes. "Jiro, we were worried. We weren't sure if you were meant to be part of the wild, we weren't sure you could handle it, but you’re here now, that’s all that matters, even though you aren’t truly a wolf you've proven your strength, everyone looks up to you, I am proud of you.” “So what? Am I just a dog?” “Jiro, we don’t know of what you are, but from what we see, you are a wolf.” “But I’m not, we all know wolves don’t get along with humans.” “Look, it doesn’t matter of where you came from, or what animal you are, we only care that you are able to know your way around the forest. Now’s the time we head back to our territory, we can talk about this another time, in the mean time, please carry on with your work, you‘ve gotten so far, I don‘t want to see you throw that all away.” “Yes Hawk.” Looking up at the star I noticed it began to fade, leaving it no different then the other stars, as if they’re all the same. We arrived back into our territory, only to find no one around, “Everyone must be out hunting.”, Hawk turned to a cavern that laid by a large pine tree, Inside laid dead deer spread out one by one, beside them was a pile of fish. In the distance came trotting a wolf, her fur was white as snow, glistening in the moonlight, in her mouth carried a fish, she headed toward the cave adding it to the pile of fish, Hawk stood beside her, “Amira, you should get some sleep, you‘ve worked hard today”, Amira nodded and headed toward the wolf shelter. Amira is one of the best hunters in the pack, she joined the pack not long ago, her mother raised her in the woods as well as the other members of the pack, although her mother was horribly ill she didn’t want to risk leaving Amira wandering the forest alone, her mother managed to meet up with one of the pack members, they agreed in letting Amira into the pack. Hawk began heading towards me, “Jiro, you should get some rest for tomorrow, it’s going to be a long journey until we make it over to the hillside of the Crowning Wolf.”, I nodded and headed toward the wolf shelter, “-and Jiro, you are no different from the pack members, remember that.”, I turned to him, “Thank you Hawk.” Heading into the shelter I found Amira curled up against the stone wall, I padded over to a small spot and curled up into a ball, closing my eyes I hear a faint voice, “Good night Jiro.” Later that night I found myself standing high above a mountain, surrounding the earth was blanketed with snow, I could hear a faint voice calling my name as it echoed through the wind, “Jiro”, the voice was unfamiliar but soothing, “Come here Jiro”, I looked around but I could not see anyone around, “W-where are you?” The voice seemed more closer, “Follow the wind” I stood up and begin walking toward where the wind leads, before I knew it the wind had become more stronger, more fierce, and began pushing me towards a bright light, “Jiro, you’ve grown ever so strong” My eyes shifted in every direction, “Who are you? W-where are you?", The light began to fade, stepping out of the light I could picture out a wolf, her fur was brown and white her eyes were unusual, “Jiro, I am you’re mother, as you’ve heard you are not a wolf, I’m afraid that is true, but that shouldn’t stop you from becoming a noble Husky, I can’t talk much longer, but I am counting on you. Don’t turn your back now. There is soon to be great danger among the forest." "Mother? Husky? What is this danger you speak of?" my eyes widened with fear, but she does not respond, only then I hear a familiar voice, "Jiro! Jiro wake up!" I wake up realizing it was only a dream, but what could it have meant? Standing in front of me Amira stood, "Jiro, we're gonna be late, we need to get to the Crowning wolf!" Suddenly it hit me, it was the day of the Crowning wolf, every leader of a wolf pack joins together in celebration for all leaders as all the wolf pack members honor them for their hard work, we sit and watch as the moon becomes a whole, the stars from above choose one wolf of each pack to be the next chosen one, they'll then be training alongside their leader and earn their spirits. Spirits hold the different elements that form as one, once the chosen one receives their spirit they'll have all the power that is needed, if a clan doesn't receive a chosen one from their pack there is a chance that there is a darkness or curse among them that'll soon spread through the entire forest. Is this what my mother has been trying to tell me? That there is no chosen one in our pack?
