The Kiss

The Kiss

A Chapter by Keirsten

Lacie’s POV: Flash Back

“Oh my God, Cody!” I yelled. I was very excited to see him because I haven’t seen him since school got out and that was when I had a crush on him. I went over to him and hugged him tightly. “I’m so glad that your ok.” he said. “Thanks and thanks for coming to this party that I had no clue about.” I said. “So how is your summer going?” he asked. “It’s good. I go to the beach mostly everyday. You got to love those California beaches huh?” I asked. “Yeah, well I’m going to get a drink, I’ll be back.” he said and walked away.

I went on to hug Bethany next. She is tall and skinny with dark brown hair, the same color as her eyes. She smiled at me and said “I’m so happy that your ok.” “Thanks, but you guys don’t have to worry about me. I’m perfectly fine.” I assured her. I looked over at Justin quickly who as talking to Cody. He didn’t look very happy at all. He looked angry and ticked off. I could tell because when Justin is angry he talks with his hands a lot and that’s what he was doing. They then stopped talking and Cody started to walk in my direction.

“Hey Lacie, can I talk you in there?” he said nodding his head towards the kitchen door. “Um, ok.” We walked through the swinging doors. “So what do you want to---” I was cut off by him grabbing my face and smashing his lips onto mine. I didn’t know what to do because he caught me off guard. I then tried to push him away from me. The kiss was broken and I just looked at him.

“What? You didn’t like it?” he asked. “I-I did, but I…Why did you do that?” I stuttered. “Well, I like you and I thought that you liked me too, but I guess I was wrong.” he answered in disappointment. “I do, I mean…I did but,” I started. “But you’d rather have Justin.” he said. “Me and him are just friends and that’s all we’ll ever be.” I replied looking down at the floor. “Oh, I see.” he said and kissed my lips lightly this time and walked away leaving me in the kitchen by myself. All alone.

Flash Back Over

Justin then asked me to explain everything that happened, so I did. Then my mom and Keith walked over to us. “Are you ok? Are you not happy for us?” my mom asked. “I-I’m fine and yes, I’m very, very happy for you two. “I replied trying to make it seem like I wasn’t in another world. I hugged them both and congratulated them. I headed towards Kelsey as walked towards me. “Lacie I need to tell you something very important. I cant hide this from you anymore.” she said seriously. She grabbed my arm and pulled me into a corner where nobody was.

“I have a secret.” she started. “Ok, what is it?” I asked trying to be supportive. “Well…I like Justin, a lot. Since like ninth grade.” she blurted out. “I’m thinking of asking him out. I know that we are all best friends and I promise that you wont feel like a third wheel. I just really wanted to tell you.” she finished. I was frozen where I stood and for some reason I was angry with her. Enough though she had no clue about my feelings for Justin, I was angry with her. I cant let her do this. “Oh, u-um, well what if I do end up feeling left out? Then what? What if you two end up forgetting about me, huh? What then? What if---” she interrupted my fake rampage and said,

“Lace, calm down. Your like my sister and that would never happen. We will be sisters forever, trust me.” I was clearly loosing this fight, but Justin could say no, right? “Well, ok you can try, but what if he says no?” I asked. “Then I move on.” she stated. “Ok.” I said. Please say no, please say no, please say no! I know that’s not very nice to hope that your best friend get rejected, but in this case I’m ok with it. “Can I tell you something?” I asked. “Yeah.” she replied. “Cody kissed me in the kitchen. He said that he likes me a lot. And once we were done ‘talking’ he kissed me again and walked away.” I explained and her jaw dropped. “Oh my God Lacie.” she said slowly and dramatically. “Is he a good kisser?” she wondered. I slapped her arm and she laughed.

“He is a good kisser,” I admitted. “but, he caught me off guard though.” I said innocently. She laughed again and I felt embarrassed. “So are you going to go out with him?” she asked elbowing my arm and winking at me. “I don’t know, he can be really conceded sometimes.” I explained. “Yeah , but he’s hot! And he’s coming over here.” she said as she waved to him. “Put your hand down!” I demanded and she listened to me. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around slowly to face him. “Hey, again.” I said. “Hey, I just wanted to apologize for before.” he said quickly. I glanced over his shoulder to see Justin glaring at Cody with hatred.

“It’s ok. Maybe we can hang out sometime.” I suggested. “That would be cool. Can I have a hug please?” he asked so I went towards him to give him a hug and he squeezed me tightly. He broke from the hug and walked away smiling. “Oooo, looks like you got a boyfriend.” she said excitedly. “He’s Not my boyfriend.” I snapped back quickly. “Ok, ok.” she laughed. We walked back to where the crowd was and dance with everyone else.
