I'll Take Care Of Them For You

Justin’s POV
 

My mother watches this show? What was I thinking? I was so close to telling her, but I couldn’t. Now we are alone again and I want to tell her so badly, but I can‘t. I’m just going to drop it. I’ll tell her another time, the right time.
 

Do you want anything to eat?” Lacie asked. “Nah I’m good. You need it. So are you going to be in the ocean anytime soon? It’s not going to be any fun with you there.” I said trying to make conversation. “Yeah…I don’t think I’ll be in the water for a long while. I don’t even want to be seen in public with this thing on my head.” she said seriously and pointed to the large gauze strip on her forehead.
 

I felt so bad for her. “Aww, Lace its ok. You’ll look just as pretty as you did before this accident. And if anyone gives you any trouble, I’ll take care of them for you.” I assured her and she smiled. “Thanks for looking out for me.” she said. “Anytime.” I said and smiled. “So what do you want to do when I get out of here?” she asked curiously. “Well, you are going to rest and get better first.” she sighed and laid down on her bed angrily. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “Nothing, I just hate when people are worried about me like this. I got enough rest and I don’t need anymore.” she explained with a bit of anger.
 

“I’m sorry, we can have a Justin and Lacie day, if you want to.” I offered hoping that she would accept. “That would be great.” she replied and it made me happy. She then grabbed the remote on the table next to her and flipped through the channels on the TV then Lacie’s mom entered the room. “Ok, we can get you home A-S-A-P.” she said with enthusiasm. “But first they need to unhook you from everything so Justin needs to leave.” she said hinting something.
 

Oh I Completely forgot. Lacie’s family and I are planning a welcome home party and I need to help set up. “Um, ok I’ll see you later Lace.” I said and waved goodbye then walked out of the room. “Ok, bye.” I heard her reply. I walked out of the parking lot to get to my car and drive to Lacie’s house. All of her friends will be there and her family that loves her. She will be so surprised.
 

I got to the house and knocked on the door. I then heard a faint voice say “Come in.” so I opened the unlocked door to find Keith setting up the food and drinks on a large wooden table. I started blowing up balloons and taping them to the wall. After we were done, Keith and I sat on the couch and started watching TV, waiting for the guests to come. While we were waiting Keith started to make conversation. “So, Justin, I have a question.” he said. “Yeah, what is it?” I asked.
 

“You know Lacie better than anyone else. I’m going to propose to her mother. How do you think Lacie would feel?” he asked and he caught me off guard. “Well, um, I don’t think that she would mind. I’m pretty sure that she knows that your not trying to replace her father or anything. She likes you as a person and I’m pretty sure that she wouldn’t mind.” I explained hoping that I was right.
 

“Thank you, Justin.” he replied gratefully. “Don’t tell anyone ok? I’m going to propose to Lizzy at the party tonight. Thanks for your help.” he said. “Your welcome.” I replied back as the door bell rang.
