Alone Again

I waited for a response from Justin when I buzzed for the nurse to ask her if I could have my breakfast because I’m really hungry. About three minutes later I got another message from Justin.

“You don’t have to keep thanking me. Really. I had to do it. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have you as a friend anymore. Kelsey and I need you! I’ll came by in about five minutes. I’m gonna drive there. I don’t want you to be alone.

Wait a second…If I just got that message and he said that he’ll be here in five minutes, then he could be here any second! I pulled the cover over myself and turned on the TV so that hopefully I didn’t look so anxious. Hey look, Grey’s Anatomy’s on. I started to watch the show when Justin walked through the door and a heat flash went through my body.
 

“Hey! How are you feeling?” he asked. “I’m good and I’m actually not tired anymore, which is good. But I still cant remember how I got this huge gash on my head.” I replied. “Oh, well it wasn’t a very good memory for me. I mean come on…Seeing my best friend drowning in the ocean and having to give them CPR to save your life. It’s scary. Plus you had the open gash.” he stated. “Well I’m glad you did or else I wouldn’t be here. You’re my hero” I said softly and we both smiled at each other. He then sat down in the chair next to my bed.
 

He was wearing one of his shirts that I love. A light yellow button down shirt with tiny vertical yellow and white stripes. His sleeves where rolled up to his forearms which I really liked. He had on jeans and his DC’s to go with it. “So, um, about the thing that I needed to tell you. Lacie, I don’t want you to stop talking to me , but I really…” he started when the nurse walked in the room with my breakfast.
 

“Hello, I’m Lacie’s nurse. Oh wait, aren’t you the boy who saved her life? It’s an honor to meet you. So are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?” she said excitedly. “It’s nice to meet you too and no we are together like that. Just best friends.” he said blankly. I could see that Justin was getting frustrated. “Here is you food. Is there anything else that you need?” she asked politely. “No, I’m fine.” She put tray of food on the table next to me and left. On the plate there where eggs, bacon and a biscuit. The butter was on the side along with a carton of orange juice.
 

“Ok, back to what I was going to say. Lacie I…” he paused and looked around the room then focused of the TV. “I…didn’t know that you watched this show. My mom watches it all the time.” he said randomly. “Yeah, Grey’s Anatomy is my favorite show.” I said confused. “So anyways, when will you get out of the hospital?” he asked. “Um, hopefully today. Possibly tomorrow. I replied. He shook his head.
 

Wow he is really cute, but he’s my best friend. Why did that dream have this effect on me? Right now I would love to tell him how much I like him, but I cant. Maybe one day we could walk into the ocean holding hands. Or maybe I can get my first kiss. I then looked at him and he looked at me. I stared into his eyes and then my mother walked through the door.
 

“Oh, hi mom. Why are you here so early? Don’t you work?” I asked curiously. She looked at Justin and then at me and said “Well, I took off today so that I could take care of you. I figured that you would want to get out of here as soon as possible. Justin, why re you here so early?” she asked. “U-Um, I was talking to Lacie on myspace and I decided to come here and keep her company.” he explained. “Ok, that’s nice of you. Do you want me to ask your doctor if I can take you home now?” she asked me. “Yeah, that’s fine.” I responded. My mom left the room so me and Justin were alone again.
