It's On Now

A Chapter by Keirsten

My heart jumped into my throat and chills went though my body. I turned the TV off and went to the door. I took a deep breath then opened the door. "Hey Justin." I said. "Hey, hey Lacie. Are you ready to go?" he asked. "Uh, yeah" I responded as I shook my head. Once I saw him I was freaking out in my mind. Why did this dream have this effect on me? I thought to myself.

We got to his Jeep and he drove us to Arby's. On our way there I "attempted" to make conversation with him. " So it looks like you actually cleaned out your jeep." We laughed. "Yeah, I got tired of looking at it. I'm glad that you noticed." Then he gave me a smile that gave me goose bumps. "Are you cold Lacie? I have a hoodie in the backseat if you want it." he offered. "Um, no I'm fine." But I really wanted to wear it. I didn't want to be a burden.

"OK. When is your next surfing lesson with my brother?" he wondered. "Hmm, Thursday at two." I told him. "Oh really" he asked with a goofy smirk on his face and said " My brother is teaching me how to be a surfing teacher. I guess he chose your session for me to be a student teacher." I smiled and thought, Oh my God. Now he will be teaching me?! This is really messed up! "Yeah that’s awesome. You better be a good teacher." I said fakely. He laughed and replied "You better not be difficult for me or else." "Or else what?" I asked curiously with a smile on my face." Oh, you don't want to know." he said trying to look intimidating. "Well you want to know what? I'm going to be as difficult as I can be while you trying to teach me. OK? Just so that I can find out what you would do." I replied and then laughed. "Oh, it's on now!!" he said. "Oh yeah it is so on!" and he gave me a look again trying to make himself look intimidating.

We finally arrived at Arby's and walked slowly into the building. We ordered our food and when I was about to hand the waitress my money, Justin interfered and paid for me. He never lets me pay for anything because, he is really sweet. Once we sat down at a table I said "You know that I can pay for myself right?" " Well, I just want to buy you things before Thursday if you’re difficult and I end up doing something… " he answered and then laughed. "I can't wait." I replied. His eyes were such a beautiful blue, I noticed as I looked at him.

His hair was perfect as usual, just like everything else. Why am I noticing this? Why does he look so different to me while never changing a thing. I've known him for almost my whole life and nothing has changed then. He can never know that I like him, no matter how much I want him to. He might act weirdly towards me and not want to talk to me anymore because it would be awkward. Anyways, I know that he would never like me as more than a friend. With that thought the dream started to replay itself in my head.

"Are you OK Lace? You look like your in another world." he stated. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking of different ways to be difficult on Thursday." I lied. He smiled a huge smile at me and started eating again. I am really curious as to what he would do if I was difficult. I can't wait for Thursday. We finished our food and then headed out to Justin's green jeep.

"So Lace, are we still on for Justin and Lacie time at the mall after we are done surfing?" he asked. "Yeah, defiantly." Wow I forgot all about our conversation last night. He started the jeep and replied " Cool. Oh crap, look at the time!" It was one-twenty. "Oh crap!" I repeated. "Hurry up and get to the beach." I said. He then drove as fast as the speed limit would let him and we got to the beach around 1:30ish. He parked the car and I could already see that Kelsey was in the water. I hurried into the bathroom and put my surfing bathing suit on then I started to run to the beach. Justin was a little bit ahead of me. I could see him and all of his perfect-ness. I quickly thought of something else before Kelsey caught me staring at him. "Glad that you two could make it." she said sarcastically. Then we all ran into the ocean to catch a wave.
