Heal Thyself

Heal Thyself

A Poem by SpitfireGrrrl

there is a tempest
beneath my skin
I've tried everything, every means
to blow it to another shore
each attempt seems to make it
Stronger.
this fragile human casing
isn't enough I think
to keep it in.
I fear to let it loose.
all things need water to live-
but such a torrent can only
reap destruction
I am my own keeper for the nonce
quietly waiting and watching
for vigilante tears to breach
the trenches that I've dug.
But I grow weary, and worn
and beg myself to sleep
to let things be as they will
and deal with the consequences
after. If only I were so wise
as to take my own counsel.
