I have no name for god

I have no name for god

A Poem by SpitfireGrrrl

as a child, I remember
wanting nothing more than to
wear a habit, and a veil
you see, Sister Mary Margaret
was the voice of god
Sister Francis Joseph sang the song of god
Brother John was god in his youth
all smiles, and joy.
as a child, I remember
telling them I would be a nun one day
Sister Angelica never mocked
but told me if I was Called
she would be joyful
She was the mother of god
you see
the Call never came
but the feeling never left
I needed no name for god
for it was all around me.

This is very good, it's great to read such a positive and inspiring poem. This is a great insight about out understanding of religious faith. I like the style of writing, this is a story well told, it's direct with nothing excess, and very readable. Really effective opening and close as well. I like the tenderness and feel of the poem, it has a positive, simple tone which evokes a sense of the childhood you are re-calling. Really good writing, very enjoyable!

. true that ... in fact ... i was born a hindu and retain some elements of inspiration from hinduism ... and two of the most inspiring women in terms of devotion to lord krishna were radha and meera ... both married women ... but i guess nuns at heart when it came to love for lord krishna ... religion never resides in rituals but in the hearts of people who believe in believing in it with love and gratitude ... in short, you wrote a spectacular poem ... :) ...
