Inadequate Love

Inadequate Love

A Poem by SpitfireGrrrl

I love you

It’s such a simple phrase

muttered from the lips of one person

to another

it isn’t enough, it isn’t big enough

it doesn’t explain away all those

complicated twisting feelings

I love you is so..

Inadequate

how do you describe

that feeling, deep in your chest

where it feels like your heart

is breathing deeper, deeper,

getting bigger than your body can hold?

how do you explain,

In this time of Insincerity, of Technology

that you would,

Care for, Kill for, Die for

one person?

It’s all been said, and done

explained away in empty platitudes

by a generation of empty souls

There’s a reason for everything-

an answer to everything.

the mystery, the Honesty

of True Romance is fleeing away

You might be able to find it

In a book

Or a child’s dreams

You long for it but you won’t admit it

Empty, and waiting to be filled

I want to fill you, I want to give you

My Emotion, my Everything, my heart.

I want to be a Last Bastion willing to say,

And Feel, and Mean…

I love you, with every fiber of my Never-empty Soul.

wow - I love you with every fiber of my never-empty soul - this was another spit fire! you are on fire - amazing insight and considerations of the freedom and suffocation one feels when love springs inside of us
