The power of sound

The power of sound

A Poem by Kevin Banks

The power of sound

As I walk the desert ground
Everything dry with no life
I speak a few words that makes the heavens cry
I said “bring me life” , and the rain came down
With the sound of thunder in the background

Plants, flowers, trees start emerging growing around my feet
Some grow as tall as skyscrapers
The height of buildings
I spoke again , I said
“Let there be harmony among the animals,
Every living breathing thing”.
I spoke again to the ocean, I said
“Get out of my way”
& the sea parted before me, sound familiar

As I walked across the divided sea
Death walked beside me
As the creatures bowed to me
Then death spoke saying
“you have domain, power when you speak, power of the tongue”
But before she could finish

The devil sprung in front of me
Challenging me for a contest for my soul
Which I won shortly after, so cleverly
As he looked upon me with such jealousy
And cursed a part of my tongue saying
“so who ever you meet, anything you see, eat or feel
What ever you speak, could bring calamity to those who are weak”
Then he went back beneath my feet
But in that moment thinking
“whatever we say whatever we speak brings life and death to all living things”

On negative can hurt some ones feelings, or worse
Like a wrecking ball to a tall building
A curse can’t be taken back
Move forward and watch, but watch what you say

So speak life into what you believe, your dreams
Speak life into the possibilities
When everything and everyone try to tear you down
With bad sounds they great
