Chapter 35 of Completed

Kenshin asked, “Do you have any ideas on how to get him back?” Eiko puts her hands down and said in a disheartened tone, “Not really…” Kenshin grins and said, “That’s okay because your big bro has an idea on how to get you started!” Eiko looked at him with a slightly confused face and asked, “And how would you do that?” He puts a thumbs up and said, “Just let me handle it.” Eiko said, “I need you to explain yourself! I have no idea what you’re going to do.” Kenshin starts fumbling through his pocket. He takes out his cell phone and said, “I’m just going to have to make a call.”

He unlocks his phone and scrolls through his contact list. Eiko looked over at his phone. Kenshin notices that she is staring at his phone screen and turns around. He said, “You aren’t allowed to look.” Eiko clicked her teeth and whined, “Why not?” He said in a proud voice, “Cause I can’t break the homie code.” She furrowed her eyebrows and said in an annoyed tone, “Homie code, my a*s.” 

Kenshin turns back around to click something on his phone. His phone started to call someone. He stood up from her bed and said, “Oh hey, bro! I got something I needed to talk to you about.” He walked out of her room and went back to his room. He closed the door. 

Eiko laid on her bed and sighed. She said, “I hope he knows what he’s doing.” She took out her phone and unlocked it. She saw a few chicord notifications. She clicked on it. It was from the group chat. Rie said, “I’m sorry for talking about Hiroyuki yesterday. I was insensitive towards your feelings.” Isuki said, “I’m sorry too. We just wanted to help but it didn’t come out right.” 

Eiko grips her phone tightly and types out, “It’s alright Rie, and Itsuki. I knew that you guys wanted to help. I just wanted some time for myself to figure out how I actually felt about everything. I talked to my older brother earlier about it. Our conversation helped me realize something important. I feel so stupid that it took me this long to realize it. I want to tell you guys everything in person. Thank you guys for being here for me. I am grateful for how patient you guys are.” 

She sent the message and put her phone down. She looked up at the ceiling. She felt her phone vibrating. She looked at the phone screen and saw Rie’s reply. Rie said, “I’m relieved to hear that. You don’t need to thank us! It’s just what we best friends do!” Itsuki said, “I agree with that. And we appreciate you being honest with us.” 

Eiko’s lips immediately formed a smile. She laid the phone screen on her forehead. She said, “You guys are the best.” 

Eiko could hear a door unlocking and saw Kenshin approach her room. She asked, “Was that phone call part of your plan?” Kenshin smiled and said, “That’s right.” She asked, “Who did you call?” Kenshin asked, “Does the name Hiroshi ring a bell to you?” 

She replayed the name over and over in her head. She had a flashback where Hiroyuki introduced his older brother to her at the party. She said, “You mean, Hiroyuki’s older brother?? That Hiroshi?” Kenshin snapped his fingers and said, “Yes, that Hiroshi.” 

Eiko gasped and asked, “How do you know Hiroshi’s number?” He said, “We've been best friends since highschool. We also attend the same college.” Eiko was a bit speechless. Kenshin had a big grin on his face. He said, “I knew that you would be surprised.” Eiko pouted a bit and said, “You didn’t have to hide that from me.” 

Kenshin laughed and said, “But it’s amusing to see your surprised face!” She clenched her fist and jabbed lightly at his shoulder. She whined, “It’s not funny!” He slowly stopped laughing and said, “Okay, I will stop.” She said, “You better.” 

He looked into her eyes and said, “You know I met Hiroyuki a while back at Hiroshi’s house. I didn’t have a chance to talk to him much but he seemed like a cool guy. I thought it was entertaining to see Hiroshi tease him.” He thought back about when he first met Hiroyuki and he was being teased by Hiroshi. Kenshin remembered when he said to Hiroyuki about how seeing them reminded him of Eiko. He also remembered that Hiroyuki said, “The description you gave about your sister sounded a bit familiar to someone I know.” 

Kenshin’s eyes widened and smirked. He said in his head, “I see. That girl he was referring to was Eiko. How interesting~” Eiko waved her hand in front of his face. She said, “Hello, big brother? You stopped talking! What else were you going to say about Hiroyuki?” Kenshin snapped out from his thoughts and said, “Ah.. well.. That was it.” Eiko said in a curious tone, “What did you talk to Hiroshi about?” 

Kenshin said, “I asked how he was feeling about the entire situation and told him about you.” Eiko asked, “And?” Kenshin said, “He said that you could come over to his house sometime and he would explain the entire situation about Hiroyuki’s relationship to Kura’s family. And what his family plans to do.” Eiko folded her hands together. She looked down at her hands and said, “I see. Tell Hiroshi that I appreciate his help.” 

Kenshin nodded and said, “I will be sure to text him that.” Eiko said, “I also want to say thanks to you, Big brother. Without your help, I wouldn’t have any idea on how to move forward.” Kenshin placed his hand on her head. He patted it and said, “I told you that’s the power of your wise older brother.” Eiko let out a giggle and said, “I guess I can believe in that for now.” 

Kenshin said, “You don’t give me enough credit.” Eiko squinted her eyes and said, “If I praise you too much, you’re going to let that go to your head. I don’t like when you act cocky towards me.” Kenshin poked her right cheek and said, “You were so cute as a kid but now you've gotten cheekier.” Eiko pushed his hand away and said, “Well it’s your fault.” Kenshin gasped, “I can’t believe you’re accusing me for such things!” 

Eiko said, “Stop being dramatic.” He snickered and said, “I guess I can let that comment slide for now.” She rolls her eyes at him.

This is a lovely tale. There are times in my life when I wish someone would have stepped in to sort things out for me, but so far that hasn't happened. It's confusing for me to jump into the middle of this story without knowing all the characters, but the clear thing to me is that her older brother is doing something to help her through tough times.

I'm not sure how she isn't aware of her brother's best friend. Then again, I never had siblings. I just like to imagine them as being closer and more informed about each other's lives.

I appreciate that you're taking time to check out my recent chapter. Not all siblings are close. Some don't get along. Some don't want to get involved in each other's lives. I always wanted an reliable older brother because for my entire life, I was the oldest. I decided that I wanted one in my story. I was curious on what would life be like with one. She didn't knew about her brother's best friend because I plan on explaining later that her brother doesn't really have friends come over the house. He mainly hangs outside. If you got time or want to read from the beginning, I will be happy if you do but I understand if you don't have the time for it. Thank you for the wonderful review!
