![]() IntroA Chapter by David HarveyThere was a small town in the South called "Providence". It wasn't all that small but small enough for everyone to know each other. It was just starting to become spring time and all the birds were chirping and the leaves on the trees were sprouting buds. There were children running around and playing games. but one kid named David trolled the sidewalks alone looking for some adventure. He wore shorts and had dark black hair. Brown eyes that glowed and was kind of short. He liked being who he was and didn't care what other people thought of him just as long as he was himself. He had eyes that could kill not literally kill but eyes that could stare deep into your soul and suck it dry. David was the adventurous type who craved danger and stuff. Anything that turned into a mystery was the kind of stuff he loved. His mom sent him to the store to pick up some milk and then straight home. But David wanted to make a detour to the shop in town that he liked going to. The shop sold old items that nobody really wanted. Odds and ends mostly. But he didn't care, he just loved looking at them and because they were also shiny. When he finally arrived at the shop he walked right in.
"Ding" rang the doorbell as David opened the door. The place was slow today and nobody was hardly inside. Seemed as if the world had came to an end.
"Can I help you young man?", asked the shopkeeper looking down on David as if David was a tiny ant waiting to be crushed. No one really knew the shopkeeper except that he was a tall skinny old man. He was kind of creepy as well.
"I'm just looking around at the new stuff that came in. But I'll let you know if I need help," said David. David strolled up and down the aisles looking at random object picking them up and studying them as if he was looking for a certain item. Old phones and old books did not look interesting to him because he didn't like to read and he didn't have very many friends to call. When he came to a certain bunch of objects he looked carefully. Picking them up and putting them back down. He picked up a strange old coin to only notice some weird writing on the side of it. He did not know the language that was being presented on the coin. So He took it up front and asked the shopkeeper.
"Excuse me sir. But could you tell me what this coin is? And how much it is" The old man looked carefully at the coin and did not know where it came from. Also the writing on it looked kind of funny but didn't come to him what kind of language it could be.
"I don't know where it came from little guy but I'll give it to you for Two dollars." That sounded like a really good deal to David. So he gave the shopkeeper the money and ran home to show his mom what he had just bought forgetting to pick up the milk from being to excited about the coin. © 2013 David Harvey |
