My Reverie

My Reverie

A Poem by Dandy in the Underworld
"

A collection of thoughts through out the day. Absolutely meaningless and unedited.

"

Bits of Fairmount in my pocket

And unfit nostalgia in my heart, I walk the heated streets

And dance through the quiet aisles.

Those Hoosier boys, They scream and yell

And I’m not sure how much I like them.

It’s a faded smile underneath a lamp post

And a Cheshire grin in the parking garage.

It’s an old post card wrinkled in the hand

And empty words written “I love you.”

My hands, cold against the pavement

And your lips pressed to mine

The ghost of you, he lingers

And keeps me in re-mission from the vicious fever

The one that you spread when you touched me

And I refused to turn away.

I let it happened

And you never said no

Together we fell

And together we drown

Choking from this tendered disease called love.

Old bricks crumble in the halls you used to roam

And the city threatens to condemn your childhood home

That charm won’t get you nowhere

And I can’t help you.

Seeking freedom, I found my America

And you stumbled into open arms

All you wanted was to leave this small town

And all you accomplished was leaning on fate

You couldn’t do it

And I couldn’t make it.

Sentenced to a lifetime in the ordinary

And making the best of it with glassy eyes

I wonder where you’re at boy,

And whose skies you’re gracing.

Escapism, a philosophy never found

And reality a price too grand

You were great in your time, Sweetie

And a firecracker in my hand.

Let the sun go down

And may the poets dream

I’ve got a small town in my pockets

And times past in my reverie

I really like this, but then..I like what I have seen of all your work. You've managed to make, fair-thingy seems familr(so,familar i can remember the name, sorry!) and the two lines
''Those Hoosier boys, They scream and yell
And I’m not sure how much I like them.''
to me, seem to show a certain amount of regret, when thinking to the past. Not, because it happened, but because it could have happened differently.
Well done!

This is wonderful it feels like being inside your mind whilst you walk through the streets of Fairmount and nostalgic memories. The imagery is astounding and places you there and makes it feel familiar.
