Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem

A Poem by Richard M

We've all seen it written,
know what it's about,
a learning, a meaning
not to be without.
Not knowing Latin, but
all agree,
the wisdom behind
Horace's philosophy.

Seize the day
before life gets in the way,
do that thing always to do,
do something to benefit you.
Say that thing you need to say
before the idea slips away.
Today, you have that chance
to move beyond circumstance.
Chance, don't let it get away,
to leave it screaming
'Another Day.'

Seize the day
while it's still young,
before those dreams come undone,
Do it today, you've still got time,
you never know what's down the line.

Listen to what I say,
Carpe Diem
'Seize the day!'

Isn't it so easy to say, "I'll do that sometime" Your poem reminds me that sometime is now! Don't waste it! I especially loved the stanza 'before those dreams come undone....you never know what's down the line. Isn't that the truth.
