22q11A Poem by Richard MWritten to give Charlie a voice.I've only heard of him, the son of a friend, sixteen years old, living elsewhere, but moving forward in life. Not long in knowing her, but an opening up, freely. Non verbal he doesn't smile, but she knows, his eyes talk. A chromazone missing, the prognosis not good, but he runs despite early predictions. A myriad of other complaints, but he runs A male figure in the home, attending school, He's happy, friendly, but he's alive. His eyes smile, she's his mother, no-one else can see, but she knows. 22q11 left him in his shell, but in her eyes, her heart he lives. I write this to give him voice, that others may know, listen and learn, that they may have a sight, a heart for others. To look beyond, to think beyond, to consider beyond realms of their understanding. r.m. © 2024 Richard MReviews
