Songbird

Songbird

A Poem by Richard M
"

A friendship, of many years standing, between two shores

"

somewhere

  in a still dark dawn

  a bird calls,

a letter, a name.

her words whisper

  across oceans

  in an early morning sky,

there, but here,

so far, yet so close, but

  the same sun shines.

so long in knowing, for

  many years now,

similar situations,

sharing our space,

voices, laughter

  never heard,

we wonder?

the sun rises,

the moon sets,

two shores, but

  a friendship love

  gently holding.

her shoulder, my shoulder,

sharing our situations

sharing, imparting

  our truths,

hearts burdened, but

  an understanding in

  gently talking.

hands reaching

we hear

we 'talk',

our words not lost,

words revealing

  layers,

things profound.

there

an owl screaches

  in forests deep,

hard times, tough times,

a soothing word,

a smile breaks.

an eagle circles,

its strength,

its power.

there,

furbabies clamouring

  attention,

her absolute world.

her birds sing,

hummingbirds feed,

wildlife tame surround her,

a racoon scuttles,

chipmunks feed,

an elk in her street.

the sun shines,

a gentle breeze,

I feel her presence.

birdiebirdlady 🐦

her words,

our understanding,

her words caressing,

a simpler way,

a smile breaks the corners,

a connection peaceful.

her birds sing,

I  sleep,

she tends her garden,

I write.

journeys known and lived,

sharing, caring,

a world away, but

  a friendship love,

our strength

  each to the other.

eagles take flight.

'Songbird'
Richard M,
It is wonderful to be able to read this poetic and lovely narrative of an oh so special relationship. Being able to touch base, to share, to troubleshoot with a caring soul is such a gift. It is truly priceless. How neat to have something, someone like this. Your mention of nature, gardening which is her pass time and your writing really gives this piece context as well.
Bless you!
Kathy

A well crafted piece that portrays a long distance relationship it’s niceties , it’s hardships, shown to us in a loving, kind, caring manner. Your writing is soft, nostalgic your individual words show such a magnetic connection in so many ways…. Lovely,
