![]() No Words!A Poem by Richard M![]() Saw this today, and written 2 1/2 years ago. It was at the time of incomprehensible, unbelievable fires in South Eastern Australia. A bit vocal!![]() An Australian summer and temperatures soar, undergrowth takes spark in a firefight roar, flames burning out of control, people, wildlife nowhere to go. Lives are lost property too, remnants of a life they knew. Kangaroos other wildlife running scared, koalas, wombats dying there, cattle, sheep and fodder too, with directionless rage fires sweep through. TV Broadcasts show Apocalyptic skies of hellish red, Armageddon cries, flames like I’ve never seen before, loss of life, property a lingering sore. Endless stories of homes saved, people together in communal pain. Views of devastation’s scene, this wasn’t their coastal dream, Mother Nature shows her hand in an unforgiving timeless land. Here? Well we haven’t seen the sun for days, winds bring dust and acrid haze, a bronzed orange on bedroom wall, a beautiful colour but the reasons for. Choppers, water bombers fill the skies. I don’t know how through smoke they fly, our beautiful country burning through crying eyes and hearts yearning. Clouds rising in a fiery heat, ash on cars in an Auckland street. I hope our Politicians now understand we need to burn and clear this land, to learn lessons of the past, move to act, and do it fast! That they listen to our indigenous, generations, knowledge of flames furious. I hope for some, though not unkind, comfort in policy now hard to find. I hope for lessons that they learn, as they watch this beauty burn, From their own selfish ways and removed from the power of voting days, I hope they see and respect the lives of those they claim to ‘protect.’ January 2020 © 2022 Richard MReviews
