![]() Moments GoldenA Poem by Richard M![]() Thinking about the growing up disabled, but with my three elder siblings. (Updated, thank you Beccy.)![]()
We grew up together a fighting four,
shouting, squabbling, slamming doors,
different ideas and different views,
heads spinning with all our news.
Day to day we were at each other,
a parents worry, especially mother,
a house busy and full of noise
created by two girls, two boys.
Cubby houses and climbing trees,
bumps and bruises, skinning knees,
horses, bikes, billycarts too,
oh, to the childhood that we knew!
School days came you watched out for me,
though not always could you see, but
with your individual brands of love,
strengths I always felt part of.
My three elder siblings we grew so strong,
together melding in a lifetime bond,
years together, a love we know,
binding stronger wherever we go.
All came this from the love of two,
from them we ever learned and grew,
they taught us love and staying close,
the lesson that I loved the most,
such a happy childhood that we had,
there for each other through good and bad,
the strength of four who lived as one
from sunrise, 'til the day was done.
But one by one you went away,
so empty was I in those days, but
phone calls kept us all in touch,
through those years when
I missed you so much.
Individually we went our ways, but
always remember nurturing days,
new ideas, directions lead us away, but
in family love we will stay!
Moments special when together again,
though never knowing until when,
to see how the years have changed,
developed us, but love’s refrain.
Those times together are moments golden,
family love forever holding,
this love still binding us wherever we go, and
through the years we will know.
Years go by, how we’ve changed, but
underneath we’re still the same,
years go and young ones come,
love expanding and thrice the fun,
family ties strong though far apart,
loves connection in beating hearts.
