![]() The MeaningA Poem by Richard M![]() Recently, I was given a friendship pendant; one of an adjoining pair. I was so deeply touched, by this; that I could inspire such an friendship. I needed to express what's inside.![]()
Pendants two in my hand I hold,
mine of silver, hers of gold,
hers a little stone to shine,
jigsaw ingots that entwine,
each with genders, inscriptions marked,
a connection both close to heart,
each bare the other’s name,
like a bonding, a burning flame.
Mine was a gift from her,
something in friendship that
emotions stirred,
something that ties us
distance despite,
in understanding each others light,
etched “bff” for all to see,
deepness of those words to us mean,
their design so perfect and unique, but
so much of us do they speak.
The meaning ....
opening up in together share,
listening feeling hearts that care,
speaking of times and places,
lots of laughter and people’s faces.
Growing stronger by the year,
sharing news and wiping tears,
open, trusting and confiding
in each other’s words guiding,
always the other’s laugh,
forever there in our aftermath.
conversations late into the night,
swaying bodies holding tight.
Personal meaning ...
something in me could inspire such,
moving her, a special touch,
“Sept ‘08” was our start,
connection true, never apart,
couldn’t imagine our friendship find,
a love of a different kind,
together we brought into the ‘real’,
memories made to forever feel.
Around our neck and
worn with pride, always
staying at the other’s side,
pendants serving to bridge our space,
each in a different place.
Our friendship, a once in a lifetime,
that’s the meaning of hers and mine,
all these I hold in my hand,
bonded by a forever strand.
