Faraway PagesA Poem by Richard MOn the joys of reading.
A day alone spent with a book, with a coffee in some little nook, a time when I can float away and cease being me for just a day. A getaway, a gentle release, a time when stress and anger cease.
Faraway pages take me away apart from this a lonely day, a book in hand what character to be, a place to go somewhere far from me. Another day adventures new, a sweet diversion to change my mood, another book a reading fine, lost in its covers the time all mine.
Sitting down with a favourite read, travelling with Melville on some rolling sea, lost with Gulliver in a foreign land or the writings of Mowat making a stand. Marooned as Crusoe for endless days or wandering with London in snow swirl haze, Carter's novel of Little Tree or Hemingway's 'Old Man and the Sea.' Albom's novels of human connection, there's ample choice for my selection.
With a bookshelf crammed and a kindle endless reading time helps me worry less. In these days of so much tension and needing so some intervention, with a world in such a state of woe faraway pages, for me the place to go! © 2018 Richard MFeatured Review
