Insignificant

Insignificant

A Poem by Lindsay

I know that this is cynical;
bringing you down is not what I intend,
but even The Good Book tells us
we're all just dust in the wind.

I'm a lost soul searching
just like you.
Because although I like to think otherwise,
I am nothing new.

Alike, we all enter
into this place so cold.
Getting one single lifetime,
in a world billions of years old.

I am one of many
disappearing in the scene.
Time doesn't take a break;
It's been known to have wings.

My journey will pass.
I'll become the ground.
While all those after forget,
as I no longer make a sound.

Few make their mark
while I haven't made a dent.
What I think this boils down to is,
I am insignificant.
