Rachel sat on her bed, staring at the phone in her hands. What had she done? How could she have been so stupid?

Rachel had single handedly pushed Quinn into the hands of Russell. It was all her fault. She put Quinn in danger after she had promised she would protect her.

Rachel’s mind started racing, she didn’t know what to do. If she went over there, it might make things worse, but if she stayed here, Quinn might get hurt or…

Rachel rushed out of her room and down the stairs, her fathers were talking in the main hall and Rachel ran towards them. “Dad, Daddy, we have to go help Quinn. She’s going to talk to her father and it might be bad and -”

“Rachel, we can’t do that…” LeRoy said, “We made a deal, we wouldn’t intervene, no matter what happened. Russell made it very clear that if we broke that rule he would come after you.”

Rachel scoffed. “Who cares! He already has, can’t you see that, if he hurts Quinn it will hurt me and I’m sure he knows that. You have to help me!” Hiram looked down at the floor, clenching his jaw, “Rachel, it’s too big of a risk, we can’t lose you.”

“What about Finn?” LeRoy asked hopefully, “He’s a nice boy and he likes you.”

“I don’t want Finn.” Rachel growled.

“Sweetheart, Finn is your true mate, don’t you want to work things out the way they were supposed to be.” Hiram asked.

“No! No, I do not because things worked out the way they were supposed to. I found Quinn and she found me. I’m sorry that Finn doesn’t have a mate now and I’m sorry that I accidentally messed up Quinn’s life. But we made each other better, we love each other and she is my true mate. Not you, or Russell, or any other force in this world can change that. We were meant to be together and I will do everything in my power to make sure that happens in the end.”

“Rachel-what if going to her house puts her in more danger?” LeRoy asked. “What if it works out okay and you just make it worse.”

“What if it doesn’t. What if I go over there and she is in danger.”

“You don’t know what is happening between her and Russell.” Hiram said, “It’s just safer here.”

“It’s safer here? You have kept this from me my entire life, You have kept this giant secret from me for so long. And now that you tell me, you won’t even help me save my mate? I don’t feel safe! I feel attacked, I feel betrayed by my own fathers. How could you do this. If you love me you will help me, you will help me save my mate and forget whatever deal you and Russell made. Are you going to help me?” Rachel waited for them to answer, but when there was no answer she turned around and began walking away. “Fine, I’ll do it myself.”

“Rachel...ple-” Hiram reached out for Rachel but she turned around to face her father and pulled her arm away from him. “Don’t touch me. I will never forgive either of you for this.” Rachel said before walking out the front door and slamming it on her way out.

Quinn walked down the hall to her father’s study. As she walked down the hall she could feel her heart hitting her sternum a little harder with each step until she put her hand on the doorknob. She turned the knob and walked in to reveal her father sitting at his desk reading through some papers with a cigar in his mouth.

She walked into the study and stood in front of his desk with her arms folded across her chest. “Russell, we need to talk.”

Russell looked up from his work and slowly pulled the cigar from his mouth. “You know better than to call me by my first name, Lucy.” Russell rose from his seat and walked around the desk, “But I’ll let it slide this time.”

Quinn ignored his words and spoke again, “Tell me about my real mate, Russell. Not Finn, the one whose initials are on me.”

Russell clenched his jaw, before he calmly answered, “That’s none of your business, Quinn.”

Quinn scoffed, “Really? My real mate isn’t my business?” Quinn took a step closer to her father, “Tell me.” Quinn demanded.

“It’s not real, those initials on your skin are not real. They were an accident. A disgusting fluke in the system that needs to be corrected.”

Quinn smiled sweetly and walked around the desk before sitting in the chair in front of Russell’s desk. “Then you won’t mind telling me every disgusting detail, will you?”

Russell ran a hand through his hair and leaned against the desk, folding his hands in front of him. “Fine, Quinn, I will tell you how you came to be the biggest disappointment of my entire life, and you better listen carefully to everything I say, because I won’t repeat it.”

Quinn swallowed hard, trying to hide how her father’s words had hurt. She leveled him with a cold glare and nodded for him to continue.

“Wonderful!” Russell said “You were born Lucy Quinn Fabray. Your mother and I were so proud we had created such a beautiful baby girl. Our family was perfect up until you turned four. You caught a cold, at least that’s what we thought. It started as a small cough but quickly turned into something much more serious. You had a 103.5 fever and after a few hours of not being able to break it we took you to the emergency room. They took you back right away and began doing tests. They pumped you with antibiotics when they found that you had pneumonia. However they found that it wasn’t working your body was too weak and the infection was too strong.

Your fever kept going up and they told us that if they didn’t find something to bring it down you might suffer permanent brain damage if you survived the infection. Your mother and I asked if there was anything else they could do to help you and when they told us they had developed an experimental treatment that might save your life we agreed to sign the papers.

They moved you to another wing to isolate you and a doctor came out to explain the procedure to us in more detail. He told us they were going to pump your body with high levels of PEA to overload your system which had been found to have significant healing effects. It sounded like a miracle, all you would need were a few shots, and IV and time for the hormones to run their course and you would be healthy again. We told them to do the procedure but we had to sign one more paper to legally say that we would not sue if the procedure had complications because it was experimental. Then we waited.

You were taken to a secure part of the hospital, every patient was being treated with this new experimental treatment and since no one knew how they would react to each other they were all isolated. They told us we could go home, but we stayed the night. the next morning we came back to find that your fever had gone down and the infection had improved, however it was still present so they would need to keep you for a few more days.

They told us we should go home and get some sleep so we finally did. We went home, got a few hours of sleep, some real food and then came back. When we came back the next day the doctors greeted us and told us that the infection was gone, but they were very quiet and we knew something had gone wrong.

They told us there had been an accident. that somehow, even with all of the precautions they had taken their daughter had gotten into your room and touched you and her initials had been tattooed on your wrist.

The doctors were f**s, their daughter was a homosexual piece of scum and now my daughter was tainted with their filth. No daughter of mine was going to be a homosexual.

I asked them if they could fix you, they told me they had been working on a treatment to change signs but it had not been successful yet. I made a deal with them that when it was finished I was going to send you to any facility of my choice and they would give me the money to pay for it. And if they tried to intervene I would take their daughter in exchange and do whatever I pleased. Of course they agreed to save their precious daughter.

I took you home and all I could see were those initials. Those disgusting letters and that horrible little girl. They made me hate you, resent you. You ruined my perfect family. You ruined my life. Everything was perfect until you had to f**k it all up.” Russell yelled standing from his spot on the desk. “And that’s how it happened.” Russell walked behind Quinn and rested his hands on her shoulders. “But,” He pulled out the chair and pulled the chair out, turning Quinn to face him. He kneeled down and took one of Quinn’s hands in his own. “But that can change. You can be Daddy’s little girl again, you can be my pride and joy. All you have to do is get the treatment and you will go back to normal.”

Quinn bit back the tears threatening to spill onto her cheeks. She tried to hide the pain from from her father’s words. Her father wanted her to get rid of her sign, to get rid of her mate. Even if she wanted to get the treatment, she and Rachel had already imprinted. Rachel was her mate and nothing was going to come between them. “Daddy,” Quinn choked out, “I can’t do that.”

Russell ripped his hand out of Quinn’s and took a few steps away from his daughter. “Why the f**k not, Quinn?” He clenched his fists at his sides, his knuckles turning white.

“I,” Quinn’s words got stuck in her throat as she watched her father fill with rage, “I already imprinted on her.” Quinn’s voice wavered as she watched her father’s face turn red. She froze in her seat when he started walking words her.

He grabbed the arms of the chair and leaned down until his face was only a few inches from Quinn’s. “I’m sorry to tell you this Quinnie, but you don’t have a choice. You are getting that treatment whether you want to or not.”

Russell grabbed Quinn’s arm and pulled her out of the chair. He pulled her out of his study and towards the stairs. “Daddy, please don’t do this!” Quinn pleaded as they walked up the stairs towards her father’s room.

“You brought this on yourself, if you want to be a w***e then I’ll treat you like one.” Russell dragged Quinn up the stairs and shoved her into the room slamming the door behind him.

“Get on your knees.” He walked to the closet and grabbed the chains and a wooden bat.

“No! Daddy, please don’t do this.” Quinn pleaded.

“Get on your knees.” Russell ordered.

“Dadd-” Russell wrapped the chains around his fist and punched Quinn in the ribs, laughing when Quinn’s knees buckled under her and she fell to the ground.

“I told you to get on the floor you little b***h.” He threw another punch at her back, “I’m not your daddy anymore. You are nothing to me.”

Russell picked up the bat and raised it over his head. “I have been planning for this ever since you came back from that hospital.” He slammed the bat down onto Quinn’s back, “just in case you became a real homosexual.” Russell swung the bat at Quinn’s ribs and took a step closer to her, grabbing her hair to make her look at him. “No daughter of mine is going to be a homo. I gave you a chance to be my daughter again, but you didn’t take it, so now, you have to go.”

He let go of her hair and let her head drop to the floor. “There’s an amazing facility in london. Besides, no one here will ever find you. Those Berry idiots are paying for your treatment. They just gave me ten thousand dollars in cash and they have no idea where it is going. You’re going to Britain and you will be banned from the United States, you’ll never come back home, Quinn. You will regret imprinting on that girl. I bet you already do.”

Quinn glared up at her father, “You can’t do this, you’ll kill her.” Quinn growled making an effort to stand up, but Russell swung the bat onto her back again, forcing her back down to the floor.

“I don’t care about that b***h and I don’t care about you. If one or even both of you die, I don’t care.” Russell dropped the bat and grabbed Quinn by her hair one more time before smiling down at her. “We leave in one hour. I’ll set a timer, be ready when it goes off.” Russell threw one last punch at Quinn’s left eye. He turned her body over and reached into her pocket, pulling out her cell phone. “You won’t be needing this anymore either.”

Quinn laid there and cried. She cried for Rachel, she cried for herself, and she cried for the love she would never have again.

XXXX

Russell walked downstairs and poured himself a glass of whiskey. He sat at the kitchen table and pulled out Quinn’s cell phone, he looked through the messages until he saw the name Ray. “Nice try, Quinn.”

He enjoyed his drink as he looked at the timer, there were only five minutes left, the perfect amount of time. He dialed ‘Ray’s’ number.

The phone rang twice before Rachel answered. “Quinn! Thank God, I have been trying to find a way to see you all day. Are you okay? Where are you? Did he hurt you?”

“Hello, Rachel, this is Russell Fabray. The answer to all of those questions is no, Quinn is not okay, she’s pretty beat up at the moment actually, but she has you to thank for that. She’s here at home, but I’m sorry to say she’ll be gone soon. I did hurt her and I enjoyed every second of it.”

“Russell, I swear to God -” Rachel began to say but was quickly cut off.

“Rachel, what are you going to do? Nothing you can’t do anything. You are helpless. I win. Quinn is going far far away and you will never see her again. You will never find her, and she will never find you. Tell your father’s the deal is done and they don’t have to worry about hearing from me again. It was nice talking to you Rachel, have a nice day.” Russell hung up the phone and Rachel ran out to her car.

….

Rachel sped down the four blocks between her and Quinn’s house. When she pulled into the driveway she didn’t even bother knocking on the door, she turned the knob, surprised to find it open. She ran in screaming Quinn’s name but the house was quiet. No one was home.

She ran up the stairs and checked a few rooms, no one was there. She looked all over until she ran into Quinn’s room. There were a few things sitting on the bed, clothes thrown all over the room. It looked like she had tried to grab as many things as she could as fast as possible.

Rachel sat down on the bed letting the realization hit her, “She’s gone…”
