Why guys are fucked up and i'm no exception

Why guys are fucked up and i'm no exception

A Poem by Specialspaceboy

Everyone’s fucked up in our culture

American culture, North American culture, every culture

Everyone’s fucked up

Whites are fucked up, blacks are fucked up

Those terms are fucked up but they exist

Islam is fucked up and Christianity is fucked up

But religion exists

Guys are fucked up and women are fucked up

But I can only speak for one of them

Guys are fucked up because of our pride

Because we don’t want to show weakness

Because I feel confident enough to write this

Even though I know not all guys are this

It could just be me but I know it’s not

It exists all over the world and I’m not afraid to make false statements

Nobody can go through life and not make false statements

There are over 4,200 religions around the world

They can’t all be right

But I believe they can be

The religions exist so why can’t they all be real

People assume their way is right

God created Adam and Eve but that can’t be so

Because Allah created Man

Why was man created first?

Something had to be created first

It’s like flipping a coin

That’s what Stephen Hawking tells us

Multiple universes and all that

This universe man was created first

Neighbor universe woman

But here’s the thing

Men think they’re better because everybody’s beliefs are built on men being first

That might not be true

I don’t know every religion

I don’t even know my religion

But for the sake of my words let’s say men were made first

That means we are the oldest

Wisest

Strongest

But the first borns are fucked up

They get pissy when mom brings home someone new

They had all the attention

Now they need to take out the aggression

On the new little sister

Men are fucked up because we can’t accept we aren’t the best

We aren’t always right

Again I don’t mean all men

The straight white male doesn’t know anything

About racism, about sexism, about discrimination, about rape culture

Because it doesn’t apply to us

We don’t have to worry about not getting a job because of our skin

About making less than our co-workers because of our organs

About physical abuse because we aren’t into vaginas

About becoming a victim because some a*****e was told no and couldn’t handle it

It might change though

Sometimes it looks like it gets better and sometimes it gets worse

It’s not surprising

It shouldn’t be

We have a black president and Hillary is next fingers crossed

But that won’t change everything

It’s hardly changed anything

I originally sat down to write a poem called

“I want to live like a spider on crack”

Because they create and live for the moment

They do what they want

And live to build but they lack structure

Yet still their webs hold beauty

That doesn’t make sense

I don’t even know if I’m making sense

That’s how stream of thought goes

Thoughts are fucked up

I really really like this. It's an observation of privilege and problematic issues in society. This poem doens't spare anybody. It says that we're all fucked up, but you can only speak on behalf of the demographics you're in. However, you draw attention to the issues women, homosexuals, and racial minorities face and further recognize that because of your privilege, those things do not apply to you. I don't know, this poem is just smart. Really smart.

I do think the last stanza would better suit a different poem because it kind of detracts from the great message of the rest of the poem. Just a thought, though. Please write more often! :)
