Urban NightmareA Poem by SpecialNo way.URBAN NIGHTMARE
Where lies the good
In the dark light
Where lies the bright
In Grim’s worst fears
Where lies courage
When you confront
A dark, dark nightmare
Woke up in the dark.
Sweating, pulled up my clock
Exactly twelve, Witching hour
Full moon, dark night
I try to fall asleep
Dark memories swirl
My mind recoils
What’s that-
NIGHTMARE
In the dark, I grab my knife
The clock ticks **one**
Heart thumping
Noises.
Crickets stop.
Something’s there.
What’s that-
NIGHTMARE
Creeping through the night
Stopping down the stairs
Listening.
Far away, a car breaks,
A crack, what’s that?
Stupid mice.
I stop, listening a bit.
This land is unfamiliar,
This world does not surprise
