Waiting Upon Deaths Arrival

Waiting Upon Deaths Arrival

A Poem by NovaeSpes
"

We no longer feared death.

"

 Her eyes soft and kind;

Her words caressed me in a calming blanket,

She whispered the words;

Keep your anger, your hate. for another day,

for later...Clench your teeth and wait...

Days of torture and pain slowly slithered by;

These whithered bodies had long forgotten the bitter taste of tears.

Days of hope and freedom long gone; a man He was pale

but seemed more solemn than frightened.

That man stood in the face of death and spoke for all,

We no longer feared death.

In the face of death do I still clench my teeth and wait?

Do I still wait for another day?

Thank you, dear poet.
You prove what I have always suspected: there is more to poetry than just writing about finding someone to be in love with. Your themes are refreshing.
