Corruption's Web

Corruption's Web

A Poem by Connor Burns

Corruption's Web

Politics and Society spin this web that blocks away the sun,
this infamous web is known as the web of corruption.
They say it's for the greater good, but lies consume the truth,
They say its for equality, but its only eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
This web constricts our thoughts and fogs our minds,
For we listen to their blasphemy while walking completely blind.
while this spider of a government, consumes societies flies,
truth be told in many ways, but remember we swim in lies.
We like to think we help the weak, but we know we never prevail,
for we are the new generation, doomed only to watch us fail.
By this point corruption has won and we are dying until we are done,
this spider watches us with satisfaction while its evil web has been spun.
The iron fist wrapped around our throat, our tears beneath our screams,
We are dead and gone, underneath their heel, piece by piece, in the wind blow our dreams.
It's only a matter of time before this corruption begins to consume us,
cry and scream for the lonesome and dying, our souls are brought to rust.
