Chapter ThirteenA Chapter by Sparrow01Everyone stared at Raul in shock. Of course, they all wanted to help him achieve the revenge he was seeking. They all wanted the same thing, but no one knew what to say. “Raul, how exactly are you planning on doing this?” Luna’s eyebrows pulled together in concern as she took a step towards him and placed her hand on his forearm. He winced at the touch at first, but then calmed and looked her in the eyes. “I want them dead; if not all of them, then at least Robert.” There was a shuffling of feet on the floor, and she could feel how uncomfortable everyone was " most of them, anyways. “So what’s the plan?” She turned her head and saw that Seth had stood up. “Seth…” Keiran’s quiet, but stern voice warned the male, but he didn’t sit back down. Raul dropped his head and stared down at the floor, mumbling low. “Actually, I hadn’t come to a plan. I just know what I want, and what Maddie deserves.” As Luna expected, Tala joined in the conversation with a soft whisper. “You can’t just walk into his keep, Raul. He has around fifty men inside alone, not counting all the ones he has out hunting…us.” “Tala’s right; we can’t just jump into this without some sort of a plan.” Keiran crossed his arms over his chest. Raul looked up with slightly wide eyes. “But you are all willing to help me out?” “Of course, we are,” Rafe grunted as he stood up from against the wall he was leaning against. “You’re not the only one who wants revenge.” Raul nodded his head and let out a breath. Shaking her head, Luna couldn’t believe what she was hearing. It seemed like both packs were already just agreeing to jump into this, to attack Robert and his men, without even discussing how dangerous it was, or even how it could be done. “Listen to yourselves… Don’t you all realize how dangerous this will be? I’ve already lost one member of my pack; I’m not willing to lose another. Keiran, are you willing to lose one of yours?” His eyes turned to hers. There were emotions in them that she couldn’t name. He lifted his chin as he spoke. “My pack is willing to help, and so am I. I refuse to think about losing one of them. It won’t be an option.” “You may not think of it as an option, but it is a damn good probability,” she growled out at him even though the packs were watching. “I can’t have you losing one of yours on my conscience. I already feel guilty enough about Maddie.” Raul sucked in a breath at her name and she squeezed his arm reassuringly. “Regardless of the probability, we will help. We have more than enough reason,” he glanced at the twins and then back at her. “You need our help.” She furrowed her eyebrows again. He was right. There were only four in her pack now, and with the added five people, they were stronger. “Alright…fine,” she gave in. “How are we going to do this?” The tension in the room went up to the next level, as if they had all been waiting for everyone to agree on actually doing this. But now that they all had, it seemed more real. “Like Tala said, we can’t just barge inside Robert’s place. We’ll have to draw him out.” Keiran lifted his chin and stepped forward. “Wait; does anyone even know where Robert is?” Embry chimed in. Luna nodded her head as flash backs and memories of her torturous stay in Robert’s torture rooms flooded her mind. “I do. I’ve been there.” A low growl rumbled through the room and she looked around to see where it was coming from. When she saw that it was Keiran and she noticed the anger in his eyes, she raised an eyebrow in surprise. His hands had balled into fists and it looked like he was trying his best to calm down. “So we draw him out,” she offered, figuring Keiran didn’t want any attention brought to the fit he was having. But her chest tightened at the thought of him getting upset at her being hurt. Swallowing hard, she looked around the group as they all nodded in agreement to her suggestion. “But how should we do that?” Tala asked, fear apparent in her voice. “We go on a run as two packs on a night we normally wouldn’t. He won’t be expecting that. But we have to let him figure it out so that we can draw him out. We lead him to a place that only we know well enough and corner him.” Blaez muttered under his breath. From what Luna could tell, he knew fighting tactics well. “Fair enough,” Keiran nodded. “Who gets the kill?” “Raul, of course,” Luna answered. Jaclyn’s voice finally filled the room. “What if he can’t do it on his own?” Raul growled low, his eyes flashing over at Jaclyn. “No, Raul, she’s right. You can have the kill, but you’ll need back-up. You have your emotions in this deep, and it’s only fair that Rafe has your back.” Raul only let out a breathy grunt, giving in to his alpha. “No one jump into this, alright? We have the main idea of how we’re going to do this, but I want this planned out detail for detail. Got it? No one in either pack is going to be hurt on my watch.” Luna looked each person in the eye, and even Keiran’s pack accepted her orders. The packs started to disperse after that, but she stayed behind. She was hoping to talk to Keiran, but she didn’t get the chance to catch him. He had moved over to Blaez. ~ The only thought running through Keiran’s head was that all of this felt right " the two packs working together like this, and for such a cause as the one Raul presented. He walked over to Blaez, hoping to get some things off his chest. But when he lifted his head and looked at his beta, he noticed something he realized he should have caught a long time ago. Blaez’s eyes followed longingly after Embry as she walked down the hallway and to her bedroom. So that was it… Did Blaez torture himself like this because of feelings he had for Embry? He caught his beta’s attention and cocked a brow. “What was that about?” “What was what about?” Blaez grunted and shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. “Like hell are you going to act like I didn’t just catch that.” “There was nothing to catch.” “Blaez…” “Just don’t, okay? F**k, there’s nothing that can be done about it, so just leave it alone.” His beta rubbed the back of his head, clearly feeling uncomfortable. There was no way Keiran was just going to let this slide. “I don’t know what’s keeping you from talking to her, but when you get the balls to do it, know that you have my full permission for whatever goes down.” Blaez turned his angry eyes on him and growled low in his chest. “Drop it…” “Fine,” he growled through gritted teeth. They stood there in silence, taking everything in. “You’re comfortable with all of this?” “You’re the boss,” Blaez smirked and Keiran rolled his eyes through a glare. “Okay, fine, you want to know the only part of this I’m not comfortable with?” “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t, would I.” Blaez let that go. “The only thing I don’t like about this is that you’re ignoring your mate, and you know it. So do us a favor and set an example, would you? Go and just f*****g talk to her. The past is the past, man. Just do it.” He gritted his teeth again. “That’s all easier said than done,” he groaned before walking away. ~ Blaez watched as Keiran walked away and when he was alone in the room, he placed his face in his hands. He was such a f*****g hypocrite. Here he was telling Keiran to go and talk to his mate, when he couldn’t even do that himself. Embry was his mate. He knew that with every fiber of his being. But he didn’t deserve her. She was much too pure for someone like him. She deserved so much better than he would ever be able to give her. Suddenly, he felt the urge to find a tall glass of vodka. Scrubbing his hands down his face, he groaned and left the living room for his bedroom. © 2013 Sparrow01 |
