The Repressive
Battlefield
Have you ever felt it?
That feeling of dismay,
As the love of your life is walking away…and another man is in your place
But no matter how it hurts, you still smile to her face.
‘Cause all you want to do is to make her happy,
And find ways to make her smile
Because if you ever hurt her…You’d feel like you want to die
And you’d beat yourself up inside, if you ever make her cry.
So you let the pain consume you, and continue on with your days
While on looking friends and family
Can’t seem to end your pain.
You watch from a distance, as they walk hand in hand
All the while wishing, you were that man.
You’ll kill him if he hurts her
You’ll flay him if she cries,
You’ll make his life a living hell if you can’t heal her pain inside,
But forgiveness shall never be bestowed if she vanishes from your sight.
So you put your happiness on hold,
Watching as hers continues to unfold.
As you sit on the sidelines, while your void eternally grows.
This void keeping you from seeing the smallest angel sitting at your feet,
This angel carries thread and needle, with which she tends to your wounds.
