Rebecka and Stella Excert 1 (Stella's Point of View)A Story by Alisha MartinThis is a story I've been working on for a long time.We sat at the top of the otherwise empty bleachers. Breathing the silent warm air, the sun setting, letting a few brave stars shine through. I took a drag from my cigarette and let her lean against me, clutching my hand like it was her life line. I pointed up to the sky, and said "See, look, Bec, they're all just up there. Waiting for your wish." She took in the empty football field, the endless sky.
"But...what if they don't listen?" Her voice was but a whisper. I stretch my arm across her shoulders. "That's the wonderful thing about stars, Bec. They're one of life's few guarantees. They may not always give you what you want. But they will always listen."
