The Clash

The Clash

A Poem by Doug

Hatred

Home but not home

Home but far away

Rages, the battle rages on

Struggle

Fight one, fight all

Fight until the trumpets call

Rages, the battle rages on

Clash

Eternal dance of Darkness

Eternal dance of Light

Rages, the battle rages on

Silence

Burdened soul at last at rest

Some things in the end are best

Rages on, then ends

Not for me, this one Doug. Technically, interesting and skilful, but rather sad. Yes, we all feel sad at times - some more than others. We all lose our rag now and then - but not all the time. A life of rage? Destructive; life should be a balance and usually is. As I say, poetically, good but lousy choice of subject. True, Dylan Thomas urged his dying father to 'rage against the coming of the day' (of his death), but only because life hsd been long and fulfilled. Not really a critique - just random subjective thoughts from a man made uneasy by a disturbing poem.
