A Poem by Soyam
"

Two worlds

"
Amidst the urban clamor's dread,
Where walls enclose, and hearts seem dead,
A tale of two worlds I shall relate,
One in sorrow, one in a freer state.

The first, a zoo, where creatures dwell,
In iron cages, a captive's hell,
For man's delight and children's cheer,
Yet shadows cast, their spirits sear.

In gilded bars, the lions roam,
Their regal pride, a fading tome,
Once kings of wild, now sorrow's thrall,
With haunted eyes, they pace the wall.

The elephants, majestic and wise,
Their roaming souls now compromised,
Once wide savannas their domain,
Now concrete confines cause them pain.

The zebras' stripes that once did blaze,
In endless plains and sunlit days,
Now dulled and pale behind the glass,
Their spirit yearns for the winds that pass.

Beside this scene of captive art,
Another world, a wilder part,
A jungle safari's grand display,
Where man's encaged, but free in a way.

Into the heart of nature's might,
Humans venture, day or night,
Their metal chariots do obey,
A realm where beasts hold full sway.

The lions' roar, a primal song,
Resounds where wild and thickets throng,
Yet humans watch, secure and still,
Caged within their armored grill.

The elephants, with trunks held high,
Ignore the humans passing by,
For in this realm, their rule stands strong,
And visitors observe from wrong.

The zebras run, with grace untamed,
While human eyes, with wonder, flamed,
In jungle's realm, they find their place,
Humans caged in awe and grace.

In zoos, a melancholic sight,
Where nature's wonders lose their light,
But in the jungle's untamed domain,
A harmony of wild, we gain.

Ode to the jungle safari grand,
Where caged are we in nature's hand,
A humbling truth, our hearts unveil,
That freedom lies where wild winds sail.

So let us seek the untamed wild,
Where humans gaze, a meek child,
And learn the lessons that reside,
When caged in nature's boundless stride.

Author's Note

Soyam
It's just a random thought, while watching jungle safari, where humans are caged and animals are free. While In zoo, animals are caged and humans are free.
Why they caged....? Ruthless, only for mean.

Well, somebody slammed this with a crappy rating but I really don't see why. I've never visited a zoo and never intend to. But likewise I've never been on a safari and never intend to go on one. I believe certain species need to be bred in captivity and then released back into the wild to restore some of man's devastating harm and to insure the survival of those species (one great example are the wolves of Yellowstone relocated from Canada and reintroduced into the National Park) but I don't like seeing any animal chained, tied or caged, domestic dogs included. I don't own pets. I had a dog as a friend once but he was treated more like family than pet. I raised him from a pup, talked to him like any human and he was a very smart boy. I think he probably understood at least a hundred words of English while I could never speak a word of "dog". I enjoyed the read and I'm rating this 100% because I think it deserves a better rating than it has. A great observation.

It is sad to see a zoo. Controlled by men. Once free animal, capture by a cage. We live in a world, where men want to control all things. This sad. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Wow... That is a good way to describe things.

Unfortunately even some humans do live in cages, real or metaphoricaly.

Yes nature should be wild and untamed...

With the right precautions of course.

Lovely poem. Keep it up!

Blessed be!!!

Our jungles are made from concrete, while the bars are made from the old ladders where he hoped would be our escape to a better life. One where we could escape the daily grind and breathe fresher air. This is just my thought on what both the humans and animals we cage for our entertainment think.
It's hard to tell who really deserves the name animal in this scenario.

Thanks for your valuable time and for sharing your thoughts too. ☺
It's indeed ☺
In the wild they watch us, but we are free...
In a Zoo, they are not. There is much conflict over the advantages and disadvantages of zoos.
You do this so well here.
I think humans often cage themselves in their own lives.

Because there is system like that. Man is making the rules for all animals. But we are animals also. Good thinking.

I really liked this. It had a lighthearted feel though its message was loud and clear and funny, I never pictured it that way before. In the zoo, humans watch the caged animals. In the wild, animals watch the caged humans though at the end, the humans are free to go...the caged animals are not. Really well written my friend.
