A story of betrayal

A story of betrayal

A Poem by Soyam
"

Hope you'll enjoy it.

"
As I stopped passing through the street where you lived
Your admirer sitting on the stairwell, finally rejoiced.
But there are few questions,
I'd like to ask:

Does his lips calm the nerves of your forehead,
The same way my lips used to do?
Does the warmth of his breath, make your heart skip a beat, like mine did?

Did you still hide the blanket on the cold nights,
To give him an excuse to embrace you?
Do you still get drunk, and spill your secrets to him,
Just to tell him again when you get sober?
Like you used to be with me?
Answer me.

Do you still let you tresses slip down your cheeks,
So he could find them up with his fingers?
Just the way, I used to do?
Does he keep staring into your eyes till the crimson evening turn black?
Just like I used to do?
Do you show him the pictures in which you still search for your childhood...
Have you told him those tales, which you had shared with me saying, "I haven't told this to anybody"
Answer me!!!

Anyways, forgot it all,
Just answer this, have you forgotten that night,
When I hold you by your waist,
Laid my head on your shoulder and whispered just one thing... "Don't ever leave"
To which you replied, "NEVER".
Answer me.

I could definitely feel the emotion written behind it, especially through the repetition of the phrase "answer me", Through the use of capital letters and exclamation points, we as the reader sense the urgency and anger of the person, sounds like they are screaming or yelling. I like this conversation type format for the poem, it sounds like something you'd actually ask your EX if confronting them. It's so beautifully written, and the last paragraph ends with a punch "NEVER" which I liked alot. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed how you wrote this!

Ah yes Soyam... betrayal...

As you said we Humans aren't perfect...

Betrayal can, and sometimes will happen.

We just need to learn who to really trust.

I can hear the questions being asked, I can feel the need for an answer and I know the feeling of not receiving the answer you may want. The heartbreak, the tension and the emotions are string in this. Wonderfully written.

It definitely is a story of betrayal...and written as such with excellent word choice and questions beyond ..... You feel betrayed because she said she would NEVER leave you and now she is betraying you for someone else...which can be emotionally devastating...I really like the structure of the poem and the emotions portrayed so that the reader really feels it as well.... Thank you for sharing...
Best,
B.

Your final stanza leaves no doubt as to the strength of betrayal that the speaker feels. A difficult situation when the heart suffers so much hurt, to deal with.

Yup Chris, but I think that pain is temporary...
but yes the process is very difficult!!,
I really like the part about the crimson evening turning black as one stares into the eyes.
Clever thought there.
So many say they will never leave...but that seems like an empty promise anymore.
