Ballad of a Sunrise

Ballad of a Sunrise

A Poem by Johann L. Kohler
"

This isn't even particularly related to my "experience"...the last verse was actually all I started with, and I liked the concept.

"

when did you last see your eyes shining
in a mirror, or in the passing silver glass
of a car moving a mile a minute as you run
hope to leave this all, fading in the dark
but the daylight will fall in step behind
you'd better run like hell to the day you die

the clouds will remind you of dancing there
the smell of rain will crash like the sea
and all the while you'll know you were here
but you now isn't the same you as yesterday
same songs, same words, same notes and rests
what do you have left to fall back on now?

how long will it take to fall to your knees
when you realize there's nobody for you now
only embers where all these bridges burn bright
empty chains and failing walls to keep you out
out of the center where all things come to die
an spiralling waltz to the center of your world

better to bottle up what you're feeling forever
so that when years have covered up these scars
you'll laugh at shadows dancing on the walls
and the candlelight will keep flickering tonight
as they all shout at you to unmake the knot
you've been working all this time to tie

A great mixture of emotions and clever thoughts bring this poem home with a unique style. Very well written.
