Lullabye

Lullabye

A Poem by Johann L. Kohler
"

No comment. 9 Nov 2007

"

leaning on the brink of sleep
knowing there's no-one to catch me
when i put my foot out over the edge

my eyes are closed
imagining you're right behind me
wrap your arms around me any moment
hoping maybe i'm not just dreaming

turn away to bid the sky goodbye
and i know you won't hear me scream
i'll leave you this one last song

no notes in this notebook
just black ink on blue lines blurred
by tears and waking nightmares
but i know you can fill in the blanks

imagine you by my side one last time
at the piano, remember my voice flying
in all the minor keys back to harmony

and i'll always be there to sing for you
in the night i know you'll carry on
but it's time for me to say good night
