[Purely] Awesome

A Poem by Johann L. Kohler
"

Written as a doodle on some forum or another, and it turned into...well, this. A rare spot of humor in my writing...

"

Oh, video games, hath thine glory fled?
Where now to turn when the classics are dead?
Where now shall the future turn for violence,
When all the world's arcades fall silent?

The rattle of gunfire ringing,
The tabs of the pinballs singing,
Quarters melting into liquid faith,
Dueling princes, arcing, looping wraiths -

So where now will be gold and glory?
How will we write our epic story?
The lights, the bells, the pistol grips
A hero's name on the others' lips.

Doubt not in the games of old
In long legends of high scores told
And push aside the tomes of tales
Of treasure and great dragons' scales

So bloom effects and pixel shader 2:
Give way to games so great and true
The fewer the buttons the greater the play

Oh, good games, may you return someday.

Johann L. Kohler
Deliberately overblown, which should go without saying.
