REVIEW: ROSE By Holly WebbA by TahnaMy review on the New book ROSE by Holly WebbROSE Holly Webb-bestselling author I must admit I did pick this book up because it has a pretty cover, but when I read the back, knowing of course that you should never buy a book because of its cover, I was smitten. Sounds just like my kind of book! The back of the book reads: Mr Fountain’s grand residence is a world away from the dark orphanage Rose has left behind. For the house is overflowing with sparkling magic-she can feel it. And as soon as Rose realises that she might be just a little bit magic too… But when the orphans begin mysteriously disappearing, Rose’s magic is put to the test. Can she find the missing children before it’s too late? The first of Rose’s spellbinding adventures… Holly Webb has created a fantastic bunch of characters with amazing personalities and a great balance of likable and non-likable characters. I strongly feel that this book would be a suitable read for girls of all ages with a little bit of scary magical stuff just to keep you on your toes! As you may have picked up, this book is about a orphan who becomes a maid at Mr Fountains residence. Later finds that she, as well as Freddie, Mr Fountains Apprentice, that nobody seems to like very much, is Magic, however Rose absolutely hates the fact that she is magic because her co workers/friends don’t seem to like magicians at all but realises after a while that its is after all very, very useful… with help from a magic cat called Gustavus which quickly became my favourite character of course. I find this story to live up to its cover as it is very cute and seriously cool, a great read for anyone who would like to read about a child who doesn’t quite find happiness in the end but makes you wanting more, and yes! I am currently waiting for Rose and the Lost Princess coming out in Feb 2010. Five stars from me ***** © 2009 TahnaAuthor's Note
