![]() Chapter 5: Things to ComeA Chapter by ADashofSage![]() Quell has a very lucid experience.![]() -(())- Quell Fontes The woman in front of me his less ruthless than I thought see would be. She's fighting back against herself, like Batty, but seems to be doing it easily. This is the only time I've found the Tranquil's blue beautiful, with the way it contrasts against her dark skin. The way her brown, bobbed hair frames her face is beautiful too. She's all I can think about among the chaos. Someone is behind her. More than one person, three I think. Are they me? They all have those impossibly pale eyes everyone wonders about, and that inky hair that makes you think there's a piece of existence missing where it flows. I think they're sisters, no, more than that. Like it's the part of me I'm missing. I'm not even in the garage anymore. Rolling hills surround me, brilliantly shining with all sorts of plants. A pleasant mixture of sunlight and breeze warms my cheeks. The realm calls to me, and I call to it. I made this. I don't know how I know it, but I can just sense it's my design. My heart is filled with something I haven't felt in what seems like forever. Love. Love for everything around me. I love the creatures with their magical and impossible things the world denies. There's not a thing out of place or strange. A robe is wrapped around me. It's one that a king would wear. Yes, I'm a king. This is my kingdom, the one Mary talks about. My sisters are beside me, despite the song, and it's very complete. It's more like a distant past than a dream. It doesn't concern me. I am the king, and I don't care. I am Quell Jess... something. Fontes doesn't seem right. It's not the name I should have. Kings are named after their kingdoms, right? The name of this place is swirling around in my mind. Descent. It's called the Descent. I am Quell Jess Descent, king of the descended exiles. Exiled from, I do not know. I find I don't know many things. That's okay with me for now. The oldest of my siblings is coming closer to me. Darkness is radiating almost literally from her being. She swoops down by me and whispers in my year, "Soon". Chills run down my spine and back a million times. The words are my own, yet not. They dissolve the world around me back into the coves of my mind, back into darkness. In a second I'm back on the cold floor in the dark complex. Home is where the heart is, so I guess that's why I'm missing both again. Kathryn is sitting by me. I heard her name when she was shouting at someone through a headset. The name suits her. I feel like she belonged in that forgotten kingdom with me. Maybe she hasn't found it yet. She doesn't have anything a normal human wouldn't, like hooves or wings or horns. In fact, there's nothing particularly particular about her at all. Not yet. For some reason, it's coming to her like my kingdom came to me. My voice is shakey, and I can barely make out the words "Is everyone okay?" "I'm afraid not. Two men came in and eliminated three students before I could stop them." she responds immediately. "I can assume Mary Crest is gone as well." She catches me as I fall into real sleep, a rest where I thankfully do not dream.
