GravityA Poem by SoundOfThoughtOverwhelmingCan I handle this situation? The tension I'm feeling is such a strange sensation All eyes are on me, screaming for affirmation I'm being crushed by the gravity. There's no room for levity No time to think for any longevity I'll have to make a choice with brevity Under this oppressive gravity. Why am I, of all people, in the spotlight? What reason do they have to indict An anxious, wary man like me. What a slight! Ah! This overwhelming gravity! Should my answer be wise and full of logic? Should it stem from emotion, be demagogic? I'm scared stiff that whatever I say it'll come across caustic When pulled in by this compelling gravity. What will become of my image After this despicable scrimmage? I'm afraid there's no escape. There's no leaving an afterimage Because of this tyrannical gravity. Why all the worry? It'll only make your mind blurry And all your words slurry So friend, this is my advice to you. Be damned what you say! So what if you've the devil to pay? Yourself you should never betray Beneath this gravity, that's all the more true. If it comes not from the soul It doesn't matter if they extoll For you've lost control And that's something you may never undo © 2016 SoundOfThoughtAuthor's Note
