I'm on vacation

I'm on vacation

A Poem by SamSat

Leaving the knots back home, I hope.
Craving a tender coconut milkshake,
I'm off.

3 hours of travel
for someone who hates it.
Smiling stiffly in the selfies
taken right in front
of the crowded airport terminal.
Still, I am leaving.

To the glittering waters
where the sea salt doesn't mingle
and duckweed floats along, solemnly.

To the narrow streets,
with expensive art cafès,
smells of freshly baked bread
and brightly coloured doors.

To the temples
with their shiny lamps,
sweaty people and their anchored gods.

To somewhere,
someplace,
anywhere but home.
I'm going. I'm gone.
