The first time for everything

The first time for everything

A Story by SoulWriter

We were watching  some kind of horror movie. I have persuaded her to come with me to the cinema. The problem is that I didn’t know that she was so terrified of blood, ghosts and all the other things that were now showing in front of us.

She was slightly shaking in her chair and I understood why. The massive cinema screen made the movie look ten times scarier than it was in the reality.

Even I was a little bit afraid.

‘Maybe I should calm her down,’ that was what I thought. ‘But how?’

I didn’t pay attention to the movie anymore. The only thing on my mind was her.

‘What to do? What to do?...’ like a curse this question was stuck in my head.

‘Maybe I should hug her? Or maybe I could tell her some soothing words? No, I can’t do it. I don’t know what would be the appropriate thing to say.'

Urgh…  Why didn’t I ask my friends about their first date. Maybe they could have helped. I am so stupid.’

And then I saw it. Her hand. It was placed on the end of the chair.

‘Well, here goes nothing.’

I carefully placed my hand on top of hers and squeezed it softly. I could feel her stiffen beside me.

‘Oh no! Now she will think I am a player. I was our first date after all.’

But for my surprise she relaxed after some time. There were no shaking or scared expressions. She was calm and that made me happy and satisfied.
