Nothing Lasts Forever

Nothing Lasts Forever

A Chapter by Soulchild

As Clive drove away Antwone prepared himself for his walk he put his back pack on and put his head phones in his ears, selected an album and began to walk down the street.

Doing so made him think about being a young child growing up here and how much has came and went, buildings being tore down for new ones to be built and abandoned ones sitting like old relics, „Each building tells a story“he thought to himself „They all have their own souls and memories, people came and went, occupied them and moved on each adding to the soul of that building. “

He remembered the old news agents and bakery that used to exist on the main street where he used to run to buy candy and comic books with his allowance.

He also remembered how tasty the buns were at the bakery, he started to get the taste in his mouth.

„Then the world got greedy” he thought, „businesses merged and became corporations and extreme capitalism began. Small businesses suffer as they could not compete with that savings, sales and cut prices due to bulk purchasing, this is was what crippled small businesses and in the end caused them to either close up, sell on or go broke“

„Now all that remains are nothing but vacant lots, with rubble, were people park their cars or dump trash, some kids use it for somewhere to hang out and drink at weekends. It was nothing more than forgotten and abused land.

It was once a beautiful small town but he could see that it has slowly deteriorated over time and with it the inhabitants that lived there. “Even great cities fall too.” He reminded himself “It’s just the ways of the world. “ He thought again.

If we are care about ourselves and our environment then things remain constant. But if not we will become nothing more than a reflection of our surroundings we become that vacant lot as well.

We have to make sure we carry out maintenance on ourselves often, not only on the outside but also on the inside.

This sudden thought pattern caused him to reminisce. Why it had took him so long to recognize his dreams. Why he did not look for signs and when he saw them why did he just ignore them? Nothing in this life is by chance we meet every person in our lives, some teach us very important lessons, but we had something important to teach them in return, yet people are not always subject to change so they fight it.

This has been his life for a very long time, why was he so content to live in his comfort zone?

The biggest issue was the fact that he tried to pretend that all was fine, when in reality he was miserable. He wore a mask for the world to see, to hide the true pain he felt, he would discard peoples advice because in most cases he believed only he had the answers to the questions that he was asking.

People are too proud he thought, proud and selfish they always think they have all the answers, yet they forget it’s the people in their lives that shaped them into the person they where today.

Also in most cases people do not care for others opinions because they simply think what do they know? They have not lived the life I have lived. All their advice is based on their own life experiences and will not be much help to me.

“But they could not be more wrong in that statement.” Antwone thought to himself.
