The Harsh Reality

The Harsh Reality

A Chapter by Soulchild

He arrived to his home, it was still light outside, and he could hear the birds singing still. He unlocked the door, closed it and then hung his keys on his key rack.

He didn’t care about locking the door like most people. He believed that you were not locking people out, you were imprisoning yourself.

He began to recap on the turn of events that day, the meeting of the young boy Jalen who turned out to be a he was unsure how to finish that sentence....He paused and let out a loud sigh.

The thought of that caused Antwone to cry, he leaned against the door sobbing thinking that he hadn't known the boy but for some reason felt like he did and for a very long time.

He pictured his face; he had tiny Afro, caramel skin and huge puppy dog eyes.

When he walked he bounced like springs on his feet. Never stopped smiling “He was only a young boy, so innocent” He thought “He had not experienced much in his life “

“And so quickly it was taken away.”

“Why? Why what was just about taking something so young from this earth, yet let evil men and woman live long and prosperous lives. Committing harm and not caring of the consequences or the destruction they cause?”

But this was not Gods work this was the Devil's.

We often forget that God and the Devil have been playing this game since way before we graced this earth.

“Good and evil share the same face.” He remembered reading somewhere “it all depends on the angle in which we look at it.”

If the person cannot just be honest with another person they are a coward it’s as simple as that.

Cowardice causes more suffering than honesty, because when we are too afraid to express how we truly feel, we lose the essence of our souls.

He turned on his laptop in order to check his E-mails; all he ever got was spam anyway.

So he closed it quickly and logged off. He checked his Facebook and other sites. Added a few quotes, videos to his blog.

He looked at his Ex girlfriends page and doing so made his heart start to feel heavy, he knew she was the one he wanted for the rest of his life.

She had no idea, how much her silence was killing him.

“We all make mistakes.” he thought. “Why do people look for perfection in a person and when they find flaws it's the only thing they can focus on? Doesn't that amplify a person’s flaws ten-fold?” he thought.

“What do I know? I am just a normal man.”

“With my own flaws, No man is an angel.” he thought to himself. “We all have our devils.

Yet some people’s devils are more in control of the individual than others. This is because they are too cowardly to fight for good in their lives; these people are lead by their devil.

And with that all they will bring is a trail of destruction.” “If you look at most children they just glow. Because they have no concept of right and wrong yet.”

He opened his music library and looked for something to keep his spirits up. Antwone's music taste was vast; he loved everything from new age, Post-Rock, Alternative to Hip-Hop. But Soul and Hip-Hop was his love of his life.

He went to the bathroom to take a shower, as he needed to relax his mind as well as freshen up.

After his shower he went to the kitchen and switched the kettle on waiting patiently for the water to boil. While humming to the song playing from his laptop, he took a cup from the shelf and green tea from the cupboard. Poured the water and approached the sitting room.

He sat down on the sofa then started thinking about his next step, “Where do I go from here?” he has family in other places but hasn't seen them in a long time his mom had sisters. And there are various friends he could talk to about helping him relocate.

He decided he will let his heart decide, but not right now right now he needed to have a nice relaxing evening with no thoughts just read a book and listen to music. “These are the small things in life that are taken for granted.” He thought to himself.

this was a nice chapter and I love your philosophy, but it seems that you use too much of it. you need to know just what amount of it will keep the reader interested. its ok to let the guy think things over, but here it just gets too long. I hope you get what I mean :)
