Today

Today

A Poem by Dean Smith
"

Thankfully the 'Today' I wrote about is now 'Yesterday.' Written several years ago, recently re-discovered.

"

TODAY

Day to day it stays the same,

Lost my way, who is to blame,
Few will say such a shame,
My day to day - Today,

Day to day keeps losing trust,
No game to play, but play I must,
More bills to pay although im bust,
My day to day - Today,

Day to day keep looking down,
So much to say within my frowns,
Not much to stay in my home town
My day to day - Today

So tell me lord will I view again,
The breaking dawn past the same old same,
To turn the corner of this lane,
My aim to claim - Tomorrow!

To smell the air, to laugh to share,
To find the times that once sat there,
To give, to live, to have, to hold
To be so free, to be so bold,
To change the past and the truth I talk
To run so fast before the youth can walk,
I guess, I confess - Tomorrow will be
As long as Today belongs to me.

Very nice job on this one. I thought it flowed very well and was well written as well.

I loved it. I loved the simplicity, end rhymes, choice of words and repetition at the endings of the stanzas. The line that goes "My day to day - Today". I also love the rhythum and the hope in the ending. Great work! Keep it up
