Fade to BlackA Poem by Dante BalintyneTo remain in this world I must fight to survive I do all I can and spend all my energy trying to stay alive It gets harder to breathe as my lungs slowly tire It feels as if my life is balancing on a high wire One wrong move and that’s the end for me As my energy drains my eye sight fails and it gets harder to see Like a movie clip I start to fade to black surrounded by a cloud of smoke My lungs constrict and I slowly die as I start to choke I close my eyes and except what’s coming as I lay my head back That’s it it’s done theirs no more life as I fade to black © 2012 Dante Balintyne |
