Heartfelt Cry

Heartfelt Cry

A Poem by DarkPoet

Heartfelt Cry
Penning this down feels like I have walked a thousand mile
Because we haven't been good or spoken for a while
I got busy with rebuilding my walls and strengthening my borders
Though you are different it felt like you were like others

Will these words capture a heartfelt cry?
It is annoyingly exhausting still I try
Maybe this sojourner will eventually find a home
Even if it is one a little far from your throne

Amid a thousand words and deafening silence
It can be an irony to lack guidance
You love to give, all your replicas continually take
And make demands for your name's sake

Will the memory of your warm embrace fade into a myth
It is futile to keep searching for you in everyone I meet
Better hungry than to taste and not be filled
Neither up nor down like the grand old Duke of York and his men on the hill

And I saw your light at a time when I was enveloped by darkness
Guided me to construct in myself a fortress
Stripped of everything and everyone to show
That surrounded by familiar people and things, a lot I do not know

Fragile, vulnerable, exposed, and naked
Your thoughts chase away sleep and I am not wicked
Just envious of the teabag safely enclosed in the walls of the mug.
Cravings and yearnings are not foreign to a thug

Will a message be discerned from these conflicting words
Love and friendship are two-edged swords
To protect, to cut, to bruise, a matter of choice
As it is to hear from silence a screaming voice
