Douleur

Douleur

A Poem by DarkPoet

Douleur
They say what you cannot cure must be endured
Exposed, alone, cold, and out in the rain
Wearing a brave face as my strength wanes
My instincts tell me I am in for some cruel more

Alternating between reaction freeze and flight
Probably being judged for not doing and being right
Searching for elusive, love, stability, and peace
That may be found when all things eventually cease

Red transitioning to grey overshadowed by black describes the colour
Of the friend in an enemy called Douleur
Whom I am yoked with by an unbreakable chord together
I try hard to get away but this romance is forever

I pray for goodness I am answered with Douleur
Work hard for a living, rewarded with Doleur
Open heart and hands to love and friendship, gifted Douleur
I hunger, thirst for food and water, I am fed Douleur

I long for a place free of Douleur like the bottom of the ocean
Still and quiet with no drama or commotion
For I sat and conversed with Douleur hoping to find answers or explanation
But all I get is that Douleur is like God both you can't question

I pen down these words for relief not pity or sympathy.
For someone out there in the world like me
Fighting secret demons, silent wars, of which for shame can't be put in words
May you read, find camaraderie, feel validated, seen, and heard.

I read each of your poems and was moved by your words. The one commented here I believe is your best. The flow, imagery, and message are to me the clearest, and may I say the most logical, more thought-out less stream of consciousnesses; not to criticize the later, just that it appealed to me more. Thanks for the post.

I enjoyed reading this and your use of the word "Douleur" I didn't know what this meant before. Pain, I see it meant when I checked. It's an interesting way of describing pain without actually saying the word.
