Let Me Be

Let Me Be

A Poem by DarkPoet

You say you want to get to know me well
So I should stop hiding behind my shell
On my case you persist
Saying I must do more than just exist

You say I should try to give you a little of my trust
That you want to help in carrying my life's cross
So many things and more you want to do
As I try to figure out what I am to you

Its like you are coming on my site to inspect
Planning to work on me as your new project
But I'm not just an object to fix,I'm human
I wish you can understand

How will you handle it when I can't act as you want me to?
Will you pour out on me all the frustration that in you brews
Calling the whole process a waste of effort
Judging me incorrigible to give yourself some comfort

For these are familiar paths I have many times thread
And I have come to really dread
I deal now with caution
Building a shell for my protection

For a mess was made of my vulnerability
All I do now is secure my insecurities
While trying to figure out me
I am not sure of your intention so I pray you let me be
