To one so strong and yet so tender
Please accept this apology I have to tender
Together we have been from the beginning
Farther I pushed you away ,sinning
against you and our sacred bond
Still of me you remained fond
Subjected you to conditions that made you weep
Still my best interest you fought to keep
Heeded only the words of my inner critic
Turned myself into a hopeless cynic
Yet you never abandoned me
Now I'm working on habits to dissolve
You and I will work things together
I'll do all I can to love you right
And will stay loving you through life's ride
Releasing all the gory stories in my head
Learning to forget all the terrible things that has been said
Ready to go through the painful healing process ahead
Done attaching conditions to my self-love
Basing it on others' opinion from where they stand.
I'm ready to be the home I long for
For a home, I'm done searching for
I'm ready to stand bravely by you
Overcoming what they said we couldn't do
Dear heart I will honour your truths and follow your lead
Avoiding anything that will cause you to bleed
I will strive to satisfy the deep hunger within
To become friends with one who has always wished to be called a friend
