Untitled 24

Untitled 24

A Poem by DarkPoet

When they look at him
They see a happy soul or so it seems
He perfects his acts so well
That its so hard to tell

Everyone sees a happy face
That has so much from life to give
They'd give all to be in his place
Their arms stretched out from him to receive

If they took the time to look closer
They will see the real person
One who weeps bitterly at home when the facade is over
Alone with himself and no one

For he has fought battles
Battles against himself
Slithering like a snake that rattles
Shedding away gradually his former self

Away he is gradually slipping
Hounded daily by his thoughts
A silent plea rest in his eyes but no one is seeing
Incapacitated as he feels trapped in a knot

But everyone is focused on his happy smiles
They never see the silent tears he cries
They never see him trying to reach out
For his voice is anything but loud

Please reach out and look past the projected happiness
For underneath lies layers upon layers of sadness
Take him in a firm clasp
And remove the knife from his grasp
